About the NAACP

Organized in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, also known as the NAACP, reached Oklahoma in 1913 when African-American leaders founded a local chapter in Oklahoma City. These founders which included leader Roscoe Dunjee shaped Oklahoma history and organized the Oklahoma Conference of Branches, which became the first branch of its kind in the nation.

Over 100 years later we still march on.

Advocacy

Everyone Counts

Advocacy is an essential pillar of our Civil Rights Movement. There is strength in numbers, and we work to inform and encourage others to take a stand for what they believe in.
